If Feral replicated that feeling on mobile, a new audience of players are in for quite the treat come mid-December. Unlike previous interactive adventures that prioritized the action on display in the film series’ 1986 sequel, Alien: Isolation slowed the tempo considerably, making for a haunting pace that truly emphasized the terror wrought by Xenomorphs. Such a release is no doubt a boon for Alien faithful who’ve yet to explore the beloved sci-fi horror universe as Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda Ripley. Check out the announcement trailer in the following video: A statement from the studio notes that it managed to bring the survival horror experience to mobile devices “ without compromise.” Players will be able to judge for themselves in less than one month’s time. Tailored for touchscreen, Alien: Isolation’s mobile port boasts a customizable interface however, those who prefer tactile controls can rest assured that gamepad support is confirmed. VGC reports the new version will launch on December 16 for the price of $14.99, packing in the main game and all seven of its DLC releases.
Recently, the crew at Feral Interactive announced plans to bring the arresting narrative of Alien: Isolation to Android and iOS mobile devices. I haven’t had a chance to see if there are any in-game differences like Spider-Man 2 Enter: Electro.Related: Alien: Isolation Developer Is Making New Sci-Fi Shooter IP.The Weapons Guide replaces some of the background artwork that featured the original cover imagery with generic vehicle images, and there are some extremely minor tweaks to copy and color tones.Disc art becomes a generic ‘with logo’ version.Right side insert replaces the entire art panel with a remix of the new disc art. For some reason the remainder of that text removes reference to the grenade launcher, artillery, and then cleans up the text.
The manual and front insert have their artwork 100% changed.Syphon Filter 3’s packaging went through a major revision on all fronts. Syphon Filter 3, along with Spider-Man 2 Enter: Electro were pulled from their original release dates in order to re-evaluate and change assets that could connect it to September 11th, 2001. My personal copy came from a used game store where a Sony warehouse worker had traded in his copy bought through his employee program during the original time frame of the recall. Most copies – both sealed and open complete were already in warehouses ready to be sent to retailers when they were recalled.
One seller even blocked me for pointing out the obvious – buyer beware. It appears handfuls of the original materials meant to be destroyed made it out of Sony’s grasp.
Over the years I’ve seen dubious folks try and pass off incomplete copies as the ‘Single Case Variant’ release – where it’s just the manual and back insert with the disc.
IMPORTANT: The September 9/11 version was strictly released as a double jewel case version with both inserts, manual, disc, and weapons guide.
